Volunteer Opportunities at New Hope Center

As a peer-support organization, our programs depend on volunteers in order to be successful.  Would you like to use your skills and life experiences to bring hope and help to others? We have numerous ways people can participate in our mission. 

Listed below are the many volunteer opportunities that are available:

Outreach:

  • Meet and tell people in the community about programs and resources we offer
  • Build relationships with churches, funeral homes, and other community organizations
  • Help distribute and maintain resources with our outreach partners

Event Planning:

  • Help assist with planning events, usually 2-3 per year
  • Help with event-style programs
  • Plan a "FUN"raiser for a good time while raising funds to help our mission

Marketing/Communications:

  • Are you technology-savvy or do you enjoy creating content?
  • Are you highly organized and good with digital communication and website calendar scheduling?
  • We are looking to build a marketing & communication team and would love to connect with you.

Adult Program Volunteers

Participants benefit from hearing stories of hope and healing.   If you are ready to offer encouragement and wisdom to others, you may want to serve. Opportunities to serve include the following areas:

  • Facilitator
    •  Workshops 
    • Ongoing Support Groups
  • Speaker
  • Peer Mentor
  • Registration Assistant
  • Greeting & Hospitality Assistant
  • Administrative Support

These positions do require a certain amount of time and healing before serving.  All of our facilitators and speakers receive training and practical experience.

Children & Family Program Volunteers

Circles of Hope provides compassionate support for the grieving family by:

  • Investing in children
  • Supporting the parents
  • Strengthening the family unity
  • Providing age-appropriate activities and discussions
  • Providing education and support for their parent(s).

If you love working with kids and families, you can volunteer to:

  • Direct fun activities
  • Lead discussions
  • Give loving support to children and parents during this difficult time.

Outreach/Community Development

For our programs to be effective, we have to connect with community partners like churches, funeral homes, hospices, and other organizations.  Our program participants benefit greatly from the care and support of local community partners. 

Outreach/Community Development volunteers meet with civic organizations, local companies and service clubs to inform them of our programs and the impact that we have on their community.   A training session will teach you about New Hope Center and how to become a successful spokesperson.

Office Support

Our office in Northville is a hub of activity and is often the first point of contact for those suffering the loss of a loved one.   Volunteers in our office help connect grievers to our workshops and support services.  Your talents can be utilized by:

  • Taking/returning phone calls
  • Providing administrative support
  • Helping with day-to-day tasks
  • General and specific opportunities are available

Program Administrative Support

We use data to monitor our progress in serving the grief community and to maintain lists of participants, donors and sponsors.  We are looking for volunteers who enjoy creating and maintaining effective spreadsheets & databases. 

Fund Development

New Hope Center is only able to provide grief support services at no cost because of the generosity of others. Our funding comes from individual donors, business sponsorships, grants, and fundraising events. We need high-energy individuals who feel comfortable engaging the community in our mission through financial and in-kind contributions. Volunteers can also plan “fun”raisers, which are social events where participants collect a financial contribution to New Hope before participating.

Special Events

Special event volunteers have a great time helping plan fundraisers, social outings, or volunteer appreciation events. They also have a great time assisting at events by greeting and registering guests, selling raffle tickets, helping at auctions, as well as doing set-up and cleanup.  

Marketing/Social Media

New Hope has a unique mission and the community needs to know about our story.  We are looking for creative volunteers to help raise awareness of New Hope by developing marketing materials, promoting programs and events, communicating with media outlets, collecting stories of hope and healing, and increasing our presence on social media platforms.

Workshop/Seminar Coordination

It takes a lot of effort to host a successful workshop!  Our workshop partners need volunteers to help with registration, hospitality, communicating with workshop participants and preparing workshop program materials.  

Service Opportunities

Throughout the year, certain specific needs arise around the New Hope Center office, at one of our offsite programs, or even with past program participants. These may include painting,  physical labor, decorating, helping with a move, organizing, or other misc. tasks. We would love to give you an opportunity to show others love and kindness through acts of service.
