Volunteers are the backbone of our organization. We couldn't offer all of the many programs we are able to provide to the community without the help of volunteers. Volunteers do a variety of things. Some volunteers have direct contact with people by providing group facilitating or one-on-one peer support. Other volunteers work in a more indirect capacity such as assisting in the office or fundraising. Most of our volunteers are people who have "been there" and now choose to give back by reaching out to others.

As a New Hope volunteer you will get an opportunity to meet some wonderful people, help them through a difficult time, then reap the reward of watching them move toward hope and healing. But most importantly, you, the volunteer, share your love, talent, time and energy to help New Hope Center provide compassionate care to grieving individuals at a time of great need. This is the heart of our work.

Office Volunteer Staff - More Are Needed

THANK YOU.  The New Hope Center office has, for some time, been operating with regular volunteers as administrative office staff.  Each day, except for Wednesday, (when all 3 staff people, Cathy, Pattie, & Arlene are in and we have no room for volunteers in our cozy space) we have a volunteer in the morning and one in the afternoon to answer phones and do many of our administrative tasks.  Our current regular volunteers are Elaine Dzwonkowski, Pat Tynan, Sandy Gaggi, Janice Fleet, Judy Rae , Mim Nordstrom, Ann Knight, Jan Sikora, Maureen Acri-McDonald, Anne Marie Peskowski and Jola Lott. In addition to our regulars, we have a list of willing substitutes that can be called to fill in when needed.  All of these people are a great blessing to New Hope Center and we are so grateful for their support.  THANK YOU!

If you find it in your heart to volunteer we are ALWAYS looking for backups and substitutes for our office hours when our regular volunteers are unable to work.   Please think about helping us.  We have a VERY IMMEDIATE need for a Friday morning office volunteer.  Can you help us? We will train you for whatever needs to be done.  You will meet wonderful people and grow in unforeseen ways.  If you are interested in volunteering in any capacity we will be thrilled to talk to you.  Please call Arlene at the New Hope Center office 248-348-0115

 Volunteer Opportunities

Our fundraising events are very important to New Hope’s existence. We are always looking for willing, interested people to participate on our planning committees (example: Golf Outing, Comedy Club, Holiday Event). This would give you a chance to help New Hope and make new friends as well.

If you would be willing to help us either on a weekly basis or an as needed basis, please call the office. We will train you and keep in mind your areas of interest and/or abilities.

We are recruiting Volunteers! - All Kinds!

If you are at all involved with New Hope Center you know that we would be unable to exist without our volunteer support.  But…do you realize how many different areas our wonderful volunteers participate in?

Office Volunteers – reception and administrative tasks, mailings - Please call 248-348-0115 if you are inerested in volunteering in our office.

Facilitators – workshops and support groups - We are currently looking for volunteers to facilitate the KIDZ Group - Please call 248-348-0115 if you are interested.

Event Volunteers – Good Grief Golf Outing, New Hope for the New Year Holiday Event, Sock Hop, Euchre party, Van Dam’s fashion show, and other miscellaneous events.

Miscellaneous – Office maintenance & repair

Talk to some of our volunteers and you will hear how much fun it can be and how rewarding it is to “give back”.  If you are interested in getting involved in any way in New Hope Center, call our office at 248-348-0115.  For those of you who are already giving of your time and heart, we would like to say "Thank You and God Bless You!"

We utilize volunteers in the following ways:
Support Group Facilitators

Many of our group facilitators have been bereaved themselves and are now giving back. If you think you'd like to help in this way, it must have been at least 18 months since the death of your loved one. Facilitator training sessions will be provided.

Special Events

Volunteers help plan fundraising events which help to raise awareness about New Hope and provide revenue to keep our programs going and growing.

Spokespeople

Volunteers speak at civic organizations, local corporations and service clubs who request speakers. A training session will teach you about New Hope Center and how to become a successful spokesperson.

One to One Peer Support

Many people have a great need to talk with someone who has been through a similar loss. This conversation can be in person, by telephone, or even via e-mail. If you would be willing to offer this type of support, please let us know.

Office Assistance

We rely on volunteers to help us in various ways in our office in Northville. Your talents can be utilized answering the phone, making calls, typing, making copies, assembling packets, etc.

Grant Writing

We are looking for someone with grant writing experience to write grants. We have volunteers that are willing to learn and support the grant writing process.

We are grateful to each and every volunteer who helps us provide the services that are beneficial to so many. If you'd like to volunteer for New Hope, call the office at 248-348-0115 to set up an appointment to talk about where you might fit in.
