IT’S THAT TIME AGAIN.....LET’S HIKE FOR HOPE !!!!!

Remember that warm and sunny day last year when so many of us got together at Maybury State Park to walk in memory of our loved ones? Well, we’re doing it once again and believe it or not, warm weather will be here before you know it! Everyone seemed to have such a great time at last year’s Hike as families and friends came together to remember our loved ones.  So mark your calendars for Saturday, June 7th.  Like last year, we’ll be at the Oak Shelter with a walk start time of 10 AM; and we will have food and lots of kids/family activities.  Think about who you can get to sponsor you to walk, both individual and corporate sponsors.  And let all your friends and family know about this event too.   Look for the brochure/flyer and sponsorship forms to follow.  We will be sending them in a separate email soon, as well as hard copies in the mail.

Team members on the Hike for Hope planning committee are hard at work in an effort to make this years Hike bigger and better than ever.  We can always use help on this and each and every event that we have here at New Hope.  If you’d like to be a team member or volunteer your services the day of any of our events, PLEASE let Pattie at the New Hope office know (248.348.0115).  We have loads of fun and lots of laughs putting these fundraising events together for our wonderful organization.  Won’t you join us???

10th ANNUAL “GOOD GRIEF” GOLF OUTING
Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 6th and get ready for another fun day of golf and good times.  We’ll be back at the Inn at St. John’s in Plymouth and look so forward to seeing you there for golf, great food, and fun times.  Finally, winter is history and it’s warming up outside!  It’s time to think about warm weather and having fun as we golf with friends and New Hope family members

The Golf Committee is already hard at work ensuring the success of this fundraiser, New Hope’s biggest of the year.  So much is involved in the planning and organizing of an event such as this.  But we have fun too!!!  If you think you’d like to join our team members on the committee, please let Pattie at the New Hope office know (248.348.0115).  We would love to have your support.  We especially need to grow the corporate sponsorships of this fundraiser.  Please ask any business you think might help (perhaps you or your loved one’s current or former employer; or a business that you frequent and support yourself) if they would be willing to sponsor a hole. In these difficult economic times, their company’s sign on a hole would be great exposure for their business as well. These sponsorships are “pure profit” to New Hope.  And we need these funds to be able to continue our mission of helping each and every person as they travel their grief journey.   Just call the office and the appropriate paperwork and information will be provided to you.

Look for flyers about this event to follow shortly.  Think about your foursomes and invite your family and friends to join us for this great event.  What a great way to support New Hope!

CATHY'S CRUISE

Do you like to travel and would like some traveling companions?  Do you remember the miserable winter we had and told yourself that you would make sure you get away next year?  If you answered “yes” to either of those questions, you may want to cruise with Cathy next year! We’ve already got about 20 people signed up for our annual winter cruise!  It’s hard to think about next winter right now, but in order to get away from the snow and blustery weather that is a pretty sure thing that time of year, you need to make your reservation now!  We’re able to hold cabins until May 31st – after that time, we don’t know if we’ll be able to get you the cabin of your choice, for the price you can afford!  Here are the details….we’ll setting sail on Sunday, January 25th and return on Sunday, February 1st.  We’ll be sailing on the “Caribbean Princess” which leaves out of San Juan. Our Ports of Call will include Aruba, Bonaire, Grenada, Dominica and St Thomas. Your deposit is 100% refundable until November 7th.  So, talk it up at your next group meeting, find a cabinmate (or we can help you with that) and reserve your spot. If you don’t know anyone that’s going, that’s O.K.  You will come back with many, many new friends and probably will have the “travel bug”.  We’ll let you know when we’ll be holding our first “get acquainted” meeting this fall.  Call Jim Rozelle from Cruise One at 734-736-4095 or 877-0287-6528 today to book your cabin.  Don’t miss the boat!  Call 248-348-0115 to receive a copy of the Cruise flyer.

"A GIFT OF HOPE"

We've published a little grief book called "A Gift of Hope" - a 3 inch x 3 inch book, that includes 22 helpful hints for someone who is grieving after the death of someone special to them. It's designed to be included in a sympathy card or given to someone you know who has lost a loved one - even at a funeral home visit. It's so compact, that it usually doesn't require extra postage when included in a card.
                                                   `
Two different people have told me recently that this book helped them more than anything early on.

The first printing of this book was made possible by donations from Deb Bonde, in memory of her daughter, Anna and the Giving Hope Women's Giving Circle  (
www.cantonfoundation.org).

We will be happy to give you a copy of this book, but in order to get additional copies, we're asking for a $1.00 donation per book. We won't be able to mail out the book, except for large orders, but you can stop by our office and we'll be happy to give you a copy.
