Volunteers are the backbone of our organization. We couldn't offer all of the many programs we are able to provide to the community without the help of volunteers. Volunteers do a variety of things. Some volunteers have direct contact with people by providing group facilitating or one-on-one peer support. Other volunteers work in a more indirect capacity such as assisting in the office or fundraising. Most of our volunteers are people who have "been there" and now choose to give back by reaching out to others.
As a New Hope volunteer you will get an opportunity to meet some wonderful people, help them through a difficult time, then reap the reward of watching them move toward hope and healing. But most importantly, you, the volunteer, share your love, talent, time and energy to help New Hope Center provide compassionate care to grieving individuals at a time of great need. This is the heart of our work.

Volunteer Opportunities
Office Support
We rely on volunteers to help us in various ways in our office in Northville. Your talents can be utilized answering the phone, making calls, typing, making copies, assembling packets, etc.  We are tying to create teams that we can really rely on and we are in great need of more volunteers.   This is a wonderful way to give back to New Hope and all those who have helped you.  E-mail  griefhelp@newhopecenter.net

Support Group Facilitators
Many of our group facilitators have been bereaved themselves and want to give others the same type of help they received.  If you think you'd like to help in this way and it has been, at least, 18 months since the death of your loved one. Facilitator training sessions will be provided.  E-mail Cathy@newhopecenter.net

KIDZ group facilitators
Do you like kids?  Do you like to help them?  If so – we need you!  Our KIDZ and Teens groups meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday night of each month.  Please call Elaine Dzwonkowski at 248-514-9636 if you are interested.

Special Event Planning
Volunteers help plan fundraising events which help to raise awareness about New Hope and provide revenue to keep our programs going and growing.  There are lots of available spots on our Holiday Event team.  E-mail Pattie@newhopecenter.net

Speakers Bureau
Volunteers needed to talk about New Hope to civic organizations, local corporations and service clubs who request speakers. A training session will teach you about New Hope Center and how to become a successful spokesperson.  Speakers for the “From Grief to New Hope” workshop are also needed.  E-mail Cathy@newhopecenter.net

One to One Peer Support
Many people have a great need to talk with someone who has been through a similar loss. This conversation can be in person, by telephone, or even via e-mail. If you would be willing to offer this type of support, please let us know.

Website and ENewsletter Support
We need people who know their way around the computer to help us occasionally.  If you’re “computer savvy”, please let us know!

We are grateful to each and every volunteer who helps us provide the services that are beneficial to so many. If you'd like to volunteer for New Hope, call the office at 248-348-0115 to set up an appointment to talk about where you might fit in.
