About Us

New Hope Center for Grief Support was founded in January 2000 by Cathy Clough. Widowed at a young age, Cathy’s own grief journey and her 14 years as Director of Grief Services in the hospice industry formed the caring approach New Hope utilizes.

We offer ongoing groups for young widows and widowers, middle aged widows and widowers and one for widows and widowers in their retirement years as well as an ongoing group for parents who have lost a child.

Kids between the ages of 3 and 18 are eligible to attend activities and groups designed especially for them.

Our core curriculum is  an eight week series called From Grief to New Hope.  Each night begins with a 30 – 40 minute presentation about a particular aspect of grief.  This provides participants an opportunity to learn about the grief process.  After the presentation, participants are divided into age and/or loss specific groups where they get an opportunity to share their specific loss with others who understand.

New Hope also maintains an updated referral list of qualified counselors and lists of other groups available in southeastern Michigan.

New Hope Center for Grief Support is a tax exempt, approved 501(c)(3) organization and is funded primarily through private donations and fundraising events.  New Hope receives no state or federal funding and does not charge a fee for any of its services to individuals.

Donations are needed and greatly appreciated.
